May 18th, 2013Crafters Make Jewelry Kiosk Shine
Wilmington, NC – While they had to let go of one business earlier this year, artists Babs and Carl Murrell expanded another.
The Castle Hayne couple run a large kiosk at Wilmington’s Independence Mall where they sell a variety of jewelry, from wire-wrapped gemstones and sea glass to pieces made out of shark’s teeth and shells. The Murrells, owners of B. Murrell Jewelry, used to open a kiosk at the mall in November, closing up shop in December after the Christmas rush. But this year, they opened up in February for Valentine’s Day and plan to stay open through the end of the year.
“We decided to try something new instead of traveling to craft shows out of state,” Babs Murrell said. “You’re away from home so much and fuel costs were just so expensive. When the economy was better we went twice a month and then when it was not as good we found ourselves having to try to go somewhere every weekend.”Continue Reading »
