Online shopping is changing the way we buy things, but claims that the American shopping mall has one foot in the grave are a bit overblown, a UPS executive said Friday (Aug. 7) in New Orleans.

Myron Gray, president of U.S. operations for UPS, spoke as part of the World Trade Center of New Orleans’ Executive Speaker Series, which brings executives from around the country to share insight with local business leaders.

Gray, who lives in Atlanta, said UPS surveys with online shoppers show a large number of consumers are what the company considers “flex shoppers,” people who bounce between online and in-store purchases depending on the product.
