Holyoke, MA – Lines of customers looking to take advantage of Black Friday discounts at the Holyoke Mall started growing hours before the 1 a.m. opening time Friday morning, and by the time doors opened at Best Buy and Target, thousands were waiting in line to kick off their holiday shopping season. Hundreds more waited for the opening of the mall itself and it compliment of stores.

Most people lined up outside the mall seemed to be looking for the electronic bargains large retailers were offering. Both chains offered a variety of products including laptop computers and tablets, flat screen TVs, and digital gaming stations, at deeply discounted prices.

Waiting at the head of the line at Best Buy, Joe Libian had his heart set on a 55-inch TV set. He had stood outside the electronics specialty store since 2 p.m. Wednesday to be sure he got the 50 percent cut in price advertised.
