Gloucester Township, NJ – An upscale shopping center in the works along Route 42 and the Black Horse Pike promises to “put Gloucester Township on the map,” according to its mayor.

Gloucester Premium Outlets, a retail center with about 450,000 square feet of space, will include a “town square” with outdoor dining and other amenities. The 55-acre project is a partnership between an affiliate of Simon Property Group and PREIT-Rubin Inc., an offshoot of the mall developer.

Simon is the nation’s largest real estate investment trust and a shopping-center developer. PREIT-Rubin Inc. is part of the Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust, based in Philadelphia. PREIT owns the Cherry Hill and Moorestown malls and the Voorhees Town Center, which include high-end retailers like Nordstrom, Macy’s and Lord & Taylor.
