Newark, DE - Avery Stewart of Bear was at a gas station one recent day when he returned to his car, sat down and his iPhone dropped out of his pocket. Stewart said he was surprised that from such a low height, the glass shattered when the phone hit the asphalt.

Stewart weighed his options. Apple said they would fix it for $150, but they would need to take two days to get the parts in stock, he said. Services like offered a repair kit in the mail, but it was daunting to make the fix himself, he said.

He found the kiosk i-Color at Christiana Mall on the advice of a friend. Technician George Zielinski made the fix last month in less than 30 minutes, for far less money than he would have paid at Apple, he said.
