Collingswood, NJ - Empty storefronts can plague even the busiest towns, but thanks to some progressive thinking, pop-up stores may be a temporary solution.

The idea, which involves stores opening for a few weeks during certain times of the year, is getting the attention of “main street” towns around South Jersey such as Collingswood, Haddonfield, Moorestown and even Swedes­boro.

One of Collingswood’s first pop-ups, The Mod Hatter, is expected to open today.

 Borough spokeswoman Cass Duffey said the town supports using the short-term shops to temporarily fill vacant space.
