Westfield’s iconic dome will come to life each night starting November 15 with Illuminique Under the Dome, a one-of-a-kind animated 3D show that promises to capture the imagination of young and old. Open to the public and free of charge, the November 15 launch event will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Level 4 with a demonstration of dance steps for children ages 8 and under by SF Ballet’s Nutcracker Snowflakes. The first 100 children in attendance will receive commemorative tutus. At 5:00 p.m., SF Ballet will unveil the Illuminique Under the Dome light spectacular.
About Illuminique Under the Dome
Illuminique Under the Dome is an enchanting, animated story set in a 19th Century toymaker’s workshop. Old meets new, as the Centre’s elegant 1908 glass dome is transformed into a state-of-the-art surround theater that exhibits the latest in projection mapping technology.

A lively cast of holiday characters including sugar plum fairies, toy soldiers, and gingerbread men are brought to life under the dome. They twirl, drum, and dance in unison creating merry melodies that contribute to a dynamic mechanical orchestra. The 6-minute show crescendos as more toys join the brigade and the entirety of the 102-foot dome becomes one gigantic holiday music machine. The production is an unrivaled “must-see” experience for Bay Area locals and visitors from around the world.

San Francisco-based creative technology studio Obscura Digital conceived and created Illuminique Under the Dome as well as breathtaking building projections the world over, including work at the Sydney Opera House in Australia, Guggenheim Museum in New York, and Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

Illuminique Under the Dome shows will run nightly November 15 – December 31, every half hour from 5:00 p.m. until 30 minutes prior to the Centre’s closing. As holiday hours vary, please visit www.westfield.com/sanfrancisco for extended holiday hours.

SF Ballet Appearances
SF Ballet will make two special appearances at Westfield San Francisco Centre, during which holiday shoppers and aspiring ballerinas can meet the dancers, take photos, collect autographs, and purchase unique holiday merchandise. SF Ballet dancers will be Under the Dome on Level 4 on Saturday, November 17 and December 5, from 5 – 6 p.m.
SF Ballet is America’s oldest professional ballet company and home of America’s original Nutcracker. On Christmas Eve, 1944, SF Ballet presented the American premiere of the Nutcracker at the War Memorial Opera House. The ballet was an instant sensation and launched a worldwide holiday tradition. The company’s current production of Nutcracker, choreographed by Artistic Director & Principal Choreographer Helgi Tomasson, is set in San Francisco during the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition and introduces audiences of all ages to the magnificent world of ballet. For Nutcracker tickets, please visitwww.sfballet.org/nutcracker.
Illuminique visitors can share the magic of Nutcracker with children and families in need by contributing to SF Ballet’s Children’s Enchantment Fund (CHEF), a program that provides under-served families with the opportunity to see SF Ballet’s Nutcracker free of charge. For many, CHEF offers both a first trip to the War Memorial Opera House and a rare opportunity to see a live dance performance.
