El Cajon, CA - The East County mall that has been a family shopping destination since the 1970s has filled numerous vacancies with national-brand stores this year, in what could be a sign of a stronger economy.

Westfield Parkway has signed leases with a dozen new national retailers, including a HomeGoods store to replace the 25,000-square-foot Borders, which closed last year when the bookseller went bankrupt. The discount home furnishings store, owned by off-price giant TJX, is under construction and will open May 20.

Other new tenants will include the county’s fifth Ulta Beauty and a prototype of Charlotte Russe’s new store design.
