The World's Largest Resource for the Cart, Kiosk, and Temporary Retail Industry

New designs aimed at radically improving a shopping centre have been submitted to Kingston Council this week.

The second phase of plans for the Eden Walk Shopping Centre include a new ‘anchor’ store to attract people to the Union Street area, as well as new paving, layout, seating and planting.

Plans by the shopping centre’s owners, Universities Superannuation Scheme Ltd (USS), extend to the east side of Union Street, Central Square and the entrance to Alderman Judge Mall.

Neil Hardiman, USS’s development manager, said: “The new anchor store with doors on Union Street and the Central Square would act as a destination in its own right, helping to boost trade in Union Street and Crown Arcade.

“It would significantly enhance the currently dark and unattractive Western Mall section of the Shopping Centre.

“There has been good interest, both from retailers who would be new to Kingston and from retailers with an existing presence in the town.”
