Independence, MO — Independence Center will be first site in the country to begin selling Pocketbook e-readers.

On Wednesday, the Ukrainian company will open a kiosk on the mall’s upper level, west of the 39th Street entrance.

The company has five models, which is says are comfortable, easy on the eyes and, thanks to their use of 16 shades of gray, do not flicker and can be read in sunlight.

PocketBook-USA’s CEO is Regina Sergiyenko of Overland Park, Kan. The company also is opening a location in Seattle and plans to open about 20 more locations around the country in 2011.
