November 9th, 2010Blue Cross to put kiosk in mall
The state’s largest health insurer is dipping its toe in the retail business.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina has set up a kiosk in Durham’s Streets of Southpoint to market its health insurance. The kiosk will stay open through December “to test ideas for future retail opportunities.”
The kiosk is on the second level near the food court. Perhaps holiday shoppers who overcharge their credit cards and overindulge on fast food will start worrying about their health coverage?
“The holiday shopping season also coincides with the open-enrollment period for thousands of our Triangle-area members,” Chief Marketing Officer John Roos said in a statement. “Additionally, health reform has led to some increased confusion in the marketplace. This creates a perfect opportunity for us to engage with consumers in a high-traffic area.”
Kiosk employees will answer questions from existing and potential Blue Cross members and will provide quotes on health plans.
