Aurora, CO — The next time Michael Lawrence takes his children to the Town Center at Aurora, he will be sure to check their grades and attendance records on the spot before buying them any toys.

Aurora Public Schools has placed two kiosks at the mall so parents can check everything from homework assignments to grades.

“This is something that I will use,” Lawrence said when the district recently unveiled the kiosks. “If I see they are cutting class or something, that will cut the trip to the mall short.”

Parents with children in the Aurora schools can already access information about their children online. But the free kiosks are a boon for parents who do not have a computer or Internet access at home.

It is even convenient for those who do have computers at home, like Lawrence, to check up on how their children are doing at school.

“We know there is a significant portion of parents in APS who don’t have access to the Internet,” said Anthony Sturges, chief operating officer for the district.
