On November 12, Toronto Pearson International Airport was awarded first place honours in the Best Consumer Services Concept category for :10 Minute Manicure. The announcement was made during the 2008 Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) Conference, at which more than 300 representatives of the North American airport concessions industry were in attendance. Hosted by the GTAA in Toronto from November 10 through to November 13, the conference helped demonstrate the critical role that concessions play in delivering a superior quality airport experience to customers.

ACI-NA represents local, regional and state governing bodies that own and operate commercial airports in the United States and Canada. In addition to this award, 25 other airports of all sizes throughout the US and Canada were recognized in various categories for their exceptional concessions programs.

“We are thrilled to hear the news,” said :10 Minute Manicure CEO, Lorraine O’Neil. “We wanted to create a concept that would make lives easier for busy professionals and travellers and are honoured to be recognized in this fashion by our peers.”

With 13 locations throughout North America, :10 Minute Manicure is revolutionizing the spa service industry. Putting their best feet forward, three friends and colleagues-Lorraine Brennan O’Neil (CEO), Vivian Jimenez (COO), and Karen Janson (Executive Vice President)-made the decision to leave their already established and successful careers behind and start their own company. This leap of faith proved to be a great move, not only for these women, but also for their customers.
Developed specifically for travelling consumers, :10 Minute Manicure understands that when travelling, every minute counts.

“Business and leisure travellers are always looking for ways to save time by taking care of personal needs once they arrive at the airport, ” said O’Neil.

After a passenger goes through security screening, they have on average 80 minutes of down time. :10 Minute Manicure provides a great alternative to the typical choices of grabbing a bite to eat, reading, or strolling around the terminal. Based on how much time they have, travellers at Toronto Pearson can choose from a varied selection of services.

A well developed training process ensures that the quality of the service that a customer receives is not compromised. With services such as manicures, pedicures, chair massages and reflexology, :10 Minute Manicure offers the customer the best solution to a long in-between flight wait. With prices that are very easy on the pocket, it’s no wonder that many customers are even making appointments in advance.

:10 Minute Manicure hopes to continue to evolve and develop. For the short term, the company will concentrate on bringing their business to more North American airports and travelling customers, although the company will continue to evaluate international opportunities as a potential for growth. At the rate that this company is expanding, these aspirations do not seem out of reach.
