Adrian, Mich. – In its new advertising campaign, The Answer has been spreading the word about its Weight Loss Challenge. But The Answer’s focus is much broader than just weight loss. Its wellness coaches work with people on adopting and maintaining healthy lifestyles through good nutrition and exercise.
The Answer got its start in January with a kiosk in the Adrian Mall. In July, it moved to 1801 W. U.S. 223, Suite 130, Adrian, at the corner of Sand Creek Highway and U.S. 223 behind First Federal Bank.
“The kiosk was perfect for the short term,” said Tim Hendricks, The Answer’s owner. “It gave us good visibility. But we grew quickly and we didn’t have privacy there for evaluations or space for classes.”
Hendricks and his staff are trained under the guidance of the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition. Their work focuses on healthy eating and wellness, including coaching clients on proper nutrition and diet, the use of supplements when needed and ideas for fun, manageable ways to exercise doing things they like to do. Hendricks is also an independent distributor for Herbalife nutritional supplements.
“Small steps over time lead to permanent change,” said Hendricks, who has been a wellness coach for 12 years. “We talk (with clients) about how to start where they are, with practical, do-able things.”
A client’s first visit to The Answer, which is free, includes a metabolism test and a wellness inventory, which together take about 30 minutes to complete. The test indicates a person’s percentage of body fat and what the percentage should be based on factors including age, gender and height. In the wellness inventory, the person is asked a series of lifestyle questions, from which an action plan can be developed.
