Local Online Retailers Turning Back to Brick-and-Mortar in Central Florida

Brothers Alex and Peter Cohen always wanted to start a record store, but it took a push from Instagram to give them the confidence.

What started as online posts and e-mail sales turned into a small shop in College Park this spring, and they aren’t the only retailers in Central Florida making the transition from the digital realm to the physical world.

A number of entrepreneurs are opening stores in Orlando after cutting their retail teeth online. The examples include bakeries, food delivery services and paper makers. Business owners say that while the internet is disrupting some traditional brick-and-mortar stores, it’s also allowing budding retailers to test ideas on a smaller scale before sinking thousands of dollars into real estate, furniture and inventory.
