Clinton, IA – From coast to coast, consumers kick off the holiday shopping season by supporting local, independent businesses on Small Business Saturday that will be this weekend. Small Business Saturday is a day that rallies communities to support their local small businesses and keep their neighborhoods thriving. Now in its sixth year, more than 77 percent of consumers are planning to shop small during the 2015 holiday season, according to the just-released Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey from the National Federation of Independent Business and American Express. “I think its fantastic having a small business Saturday to raise awareness for small businesses,” Erin George, Painted Rooster co-owner, said. “Shopping small and local is fun, you find more unique items and there is an importance in supporting small businesses. Even though its just one day a year, it makes people realize they want to support their local businesses.”
