Pretzel Franchise Round-up

Philly Pretzel Factory

While it may be one of the more affordable franchise opportunities in this category, Philly Pretzel Factory offers a slightly different product than its competitors. Founded in 1998 by two college classmates, Dan DiZio and Len Lehmen, the company has grown into a 150-franchise operation whose units are primarily located in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States. These two men capitalized on the fact that the pretzel has become part of popular culture and is the iconic snack that defines Philadelphia’s cuisine. In fact, the Philadelphia area produces over 80 percent of the nation’s pretzels. It’s no surprise then that Philly Pretzel Factory’s strongest markets are Philadelphia and the nearby state of New Jersey though they have recently expanded through
in-store outlets within Walmart stores in Tennessee, Florida
and Virginia.

How its pretzels are baked is the differentiating factor between Philly Pretzel Factory and its competitors. This pretzel has an elongated shape and is baked one attached to another. This creates a thicker styled, almost bread-like pretzel.
